Dr. Harald Zeller
Dr. Zeller first went to sea for 8 years and worked his way up from deckhand to captain.
Later he undertook law studies at Hamburg University, passed the bar examination and worked as a maritime lawyer in Hamburg. He holds a regular doctor-of-law-degree from Hamburg University; his doctorate thesis dealt with German and International Insurance Law and in particular the Collision Liability element under Hull and P&I insurance.
Dr. Zeller afterwards worked 14 years in the Marine and Transport Insurance Division of Munich Re which he left end of 1996 to form his own network company “Zeller Associates”, an independent international group of marine, transport and other specialty insurance service providers. The Group’s headquarters are located in Hamburg; it has spread to 14 offices located in many major global trading areas and employs abt. 140 persons of many nationalities and different, but mostly maritime, professional background.
Capt. Richard Chalhoub
Capt. Richard Chalhoub’s family roots lead to the Mediterranean, to the shores of Lebanon, where he was born in Tripoli in December 1950.
After having graduated from the French Grammar School in Lebanon, he joined the merchant marine of Germany, sailing with several German ship-owners on various types of vessels, like freighters, reefers, large tankers, bulk carriers, container ships and passenger vessels, during which time he worked his way up from deckhand to captain.
Captain Chalhoub graduated from the Nautical Academy at Elsfleth near Bremen in 1975 and is holding a German Full Foreign-Going Master’s Certificate.
He became a German citizen in 1982 and after more than 21 years of experience in active seafaring and command he worked for Munich Re’s Home Office in its Marine Department from 1988 until 1996, becoming the responsible underwriter and account manager for facultative and treaty business from France, the Near and Middle East and a huge part of the Mediterranean and African countries.
Capt. Chalhoub is a co-founder of the Zeller Associates Group and a managing partner as well.
His personal capacity is most intensely linked to the successful establishment of ZARIS Insurance Consultants Ltd. and to the supervision and further expansion of the Group’s overall Mediterranean, Near and Middle East and African activities, based on the offices of the Group in Limassol and Beirut.
